How Massage Works
Massage helps the muscles relax by stimulating a reflex response of the nervous system. The application of smooth, steady, rhythmical massage can relieve tension and soothe sore muscles. This decrease in muscle tension causes the muscle to become more relaxed and elastic. Also, massage’s effect on the circulatory system is beneficial for the healing of soft tissue.
What To Expect From Massage
If you have never experienced massage therapy before, prepare yourself for a wonderful experience. You will relax on a padded table designed for stability, support and comfort. You will be properly draped at all times. The room will be warm and quiet, often with soft music to set a relaxing mood. After a massage session, most people feel very relaxed. Many experience freedom from aches and pains that have built up over months of tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of relaxation, people often experience an increase in energy that can last for several days.

Types of Massage Therapy

Swedish Massage — This well known style of massage employs a compliment of manual manipulations, including long strokes, gentle stretching, kneading, hacking, vibration and superficial friction to soften muscles. It’s great for increasing circulation, range of motion, easing of sore joints and releasing muscle tension and stress.

Trigger Point — Trigger points are tiny, tight nodules that form in muscles, causing referred pain. At times, myofascial pain can be linked to one or more trigger points. The treatment goals include alleviating muscle spasms, improving circulation, and releasing trigger points. The therapist applies direct, momentary pressure to a trigger point to cause its release.

Deep Tissue — This approach uses most of the techniques of Swedish massage, but it addresses constrictions and dysfunctions that reside deeper in the muscle tissue. The practitioner uses their elbows, fists, knuckles and finger pressure to see out the deep trigger points, breakdown adhesions, and help relieve the root causes of the muscle pain.

Pregnancy Massage — A woman’s body obviously goes through many changes during pregnancy.  Massage therapy during pregnancy can be very therapeutic – focusing on both the expectant mother and the baby. It can relieve insomnia, backaches, swollen ankles, aching muscles and feet, fatigue, breast soreness and headaches.

Parafin Dip — A treatment for the symptoms of joint and muscle conditions, such as arthritis, that consists of melted mineral wax derived from petroleum applied to a body area. Paraffin dips can be especially helpful in relieving the pain and stiffness of arthritis involving the small joints of the hands when used as a small bath. The hands are repeatedly dipped into the melted, warm wax and the wax allowed to cool and harden around the sore joints. The paraffin is then removed by peeling off and can be remelted in the bath for repeated use. Finish with a hand and foot massage.

Sea Salt Glow — Great for full body exfoliation for all skin types. One can refine and improve skin texture and enhance circulation to allow skin to breath by removing accumulated skin and residue. A combination of dead sea salt, aloe vera, and a carrier oil is rubbed all over the body, removing excess skin. The process is followed bya hot shower.

Facial Massage — Relax the stress away while we begin the process of cleansing the face, applying a facial mask and allowing the heated towels to penetrate into your pores for a deep cleaning. With your face wrapped in hot towels, enjoy a hand and foot massage. Once the facial mask is rinsed off, a moisturizer is applied as you receive a gentle and relaxing face and scalp massage.
