Types of Massage Therapy

Integrated — An approach to body work applying several modalities to meet the client’s individual, therapeutic needs at the time of session. Moderate pressure is used with special attention to a few knots (most popular therapy)

Relaxation A relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle treatment that relieves muscular tension, increases circulation, and promotes a general sense of relaxation.

Prenatal A type that’s similar to regular massage – it aims to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good.

How Massage Works
Massage helps the muscles relax by stimulating a reflex response of the nervous system. The application of smooth, steady, rhythmical massage can relieve tension and soothe sore muscles. This decrease in muscle tension causes the muscle to become more relaxed and elastic. Also, massage’s effect on the circulatory system is beneficial for the healing of soft tissue.

What To Expect From Massage

If you have never experienced massage therapy before, prepare yourself for a wonderful experience. You will relax on a padded table designed for stability, support and comfort. You will be properly draped at all times. The room will be warm and quiet, often with soft music to set a relaxing mood. After a massage session, most people feel very relaxed. Many experience freedom from aches and pains that have built up over months of tension or repetitive activity. After an initial period of relaxation, people often experience an increase in energy that can last for several days.

Communicate Your Preferences
Be sure to speak up. All aspects of your massage session can be modified to your preference: pressure (too light or too deep), lighting in the room, style of music, temperature, and whether or not you choose to have a conversation or enjoy the treatment in silence.

Cell Phone Usage
In our effort to maintain a relaxing & tranquil atmosphere for clients, we ask that all cell phones and pagers be silenced or turned off upon entering our center.
